Everyone Gets a Turn

In short: A first-timer finds her nerve. The Haunting is rated 7 out of 10 and suits groups where a few players have done escape rooms before; its puzzles are spread through the house, so everyone in a group of 4 to 12 has something to do.

Friday. One lady tonight had never been in a house like mine before. She said so at the door, and on the stairs, and to the wall. Her friends had been in lots of them, and they told her to stay close and keep her eyes open.

She stood in the corner for a little while. Nobody stays in a corner in my house. There are things to find in every room, and in the dark everybody ends up with something in their hands whether they want it or not.

By the end she was the one telling the others where to look. The others were the ones in the corner. I find that very satisfying, the way the quiet ones wake up.

Margery says the hardest part of my house is not seeing things, it is understanding them with your heart going like a drum. Margery has never had a heart. She has excellent theories.

FAQ

What this page answers

Does everyone get something to do in The Haunting?

Yes. The Haunting is built for groups of 4 to 12, and its puzzles are spread through the house, so even a big group finds that everyone ends up searching, reading or solving something in Cathy’s rooms.

Can a group of beginners survive The Haunting?

It’s possible, but The Haunting suits groups with some experience. It’s rated 7 out of 10, with intermediate puzzles where the clues are easy to find and hard to crack. Ideally a few players have done escape rooms before; an all-beginner group may prefer Bank Heist or The Wizard’s Chamber at Escape This Perth CBD first.
